DeKALB – “Salsa at the Mansion,” the next concert in the Music at the Mansion series, will feature Salsa del Norte. The show will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, on the lawn of the Ellwood House Museum in DeKalb.
Salsa del Norte plays everything from salsa, mambo and cha cha to cumbia, merengue, reggaeton, bachata and other traditional styles from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Colombia. The band’s style of music helps celebrate the diverse cultures that have contributed to this vibrant genre of music. A salsa dance instructor will demonstrate some great moves.
The opening act at 6:30 p.m. will be the Crosswinds Flute Choir, a community group of musicians from the DeKalb and Sycamore area. Membership ranges from school students to adults of various ages and playing levels. They all share a love of making music together.
The concert is free. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket.
